Requirements
Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required.
Completion of 180 hours of approved assessment-based ABA coursework or 12 semester credit units, which must include:
At least 20 hours in ethics.
A minimum of 15 hours in autism core knowledge.
The training should be developed or delivered by a master's level professional within the scope of ABA and autism.
A total of 1,000 hours of supervised fieldwork is required, with at least 600 hours dedicated to supervisory roles or program development. Up to 400 hours can be accrued as a 1:1 direct care provider.
A recommendation from the candidate's supervisor is necessary.
Candidates must undergo a criminal background check conducted by the QABA Board through a third-party provider or provide evidence from an employer confirming no change in status since the last background check.
Successful completion of the accredited QASP-S exam proctored by Examity is required.
Candidates must agree to adhere to the QABA Code of Ethics and fulfill all renewal requirements.
Learning Outcomes
